In a manner of speaking!

"Mere color, unspoiled by meaning and unallied with definite form, can speak to the soul in a thousand different ways"--Oscar Wilde
I have certainly come to think that life is a vignette filled with what we choose to make of it. Today, I decided to be just a good friend. Deep belly laughs, an over the fence conversation with a neighbor, smiling at a stranger, talking endlessly to an old person eager to be heard. Deciding to say hello to everyone I passed at the park whether they said hello or not. Sharing a seedling from my garden, waving to a passing school bus. No! I am not ready for sainthood but today, I know that being a friend has helped me to be a better person. And so with each brush stroke I paint with joy.

What inspires me!

Someone once told me if you plant a garden you believe in the future. How true! On a gloomy day with threats of rain, I perused my garden taking in all the sad little plants that made it through those cold windy days and pondered if I would again see color. Spreading seeds in a random fashion and stuffing bulbs with reckless abandonment, I whispered, grow little plants grow. The neighborhood squirrel was nearby keeping an eye on the nuts he'd so carefully planted (earlier in the year) Wanting to shoo him away, it became clear to me that we could both live in harmony. Well! believing in something has power. My garden has burst of color in every nook and cranny. How could anyone be out of sorts with the promise of such beauty. I took out my paints and brushes and today I am feeling renewed.
