How hot is today!

I remember crying the blues when it rained everyday for a week, but at least I could dress for it.... Time my moments when I wanted to go out.... Make a choice, move about, but the last few days have stopped me in my tracks. Even my sweet peas that always greeted me with color and a lovely smell- now hang loosely on my trellis wondering why they have been abandoned. Called a friend in the valley about our temperature of 90 and then realized who I was talking to. They quickly reminded me that we are just sissies. So, I can only say, drink lots of water, don't over do any activity, eat small light meals, write over due letters to friends, catch up on all your magazines and move about slowly!

Pen Women on My Mind

A few of my sister Pen Women with the National League of American Pen spent two days at the opening of the San Mateo Fair. Our information table was in the midst of some very talented writers from the Bay Area. Our focus was to get the word out about Pen Women and invite other created women to join our branch. The interest in our group was great. I picked up an attractive button from the Fine Arts Galleria and I cannot stop thinking of the words on it, "Carry The Light". I want to focus on our branch and invite others to learn more about us and perhaps join. Our local website www.nlapwsantaclara.org. Find out "how to join"

Try Turlock

I spent Saturday at the Carnegie Arts Center in Turlock with about 30 very creative National League of American Pen women, a great meeting sharing creative ideas and ideas to grow our membership. How to attract the younger artist and writers was a focus. Strong branches is what we strive for. A local art show was taking place at the center with amazing works. Not one to pass up a little shopping, we stopped in a quaint shop called Needful Things and it was a real treasure. Of course I came home with delicious soy candles and a few vintage items. Try Turlock the next time you find yourself in that area.

Another quote that caught my fancy

Reality is merely an illusion-albeit a very persistent one, also I like pie!

Breaking Bread

I have often said that sharing a meal could change the world. Imagine sitting with total strangers and having your senses and your soul nourished. Well, I had the great fortune to do just that, with old friends and friends I had not seen for some time. We laughed, we talked, we ate and then we started it all over again. A good time was had by all. Start those meals, just because and change our world one bite at a time!.

Published in The Pen Woman Spring 2017 Magazine

My Poem-"Antique Play" All all exists free- Echoed through the night- Our nightly treat of nasturtiums- A drop of sweetness- Dean knew for sure- My favorite of course was honey sorrel- Grass seeds on your back- Told of many loves- Pull a grass sheath to whistle past dark- Cardboard boxes- A fast slide- Ole Tank Hill was full of speed- Treasures and joy filled an empty cable spool- Let go down Ole Tank Hill- Run like the wind- Sliding down icy redwood walks- The ole Zenith radio blasting country twang- Olympic school opened arms- Stop to chat with Mr. Brown- A janitor was safe- Stacks of hay- Arms stretched making paths- Crawling with play- Found an old steamer trunk- A treasure trove of broken pieces- All all exists free-
